The Importance of Wills: Amy Winehouse – July 2011

ARTICLE BY: CHARLOTTE BANDAWE

Amy Winehouse, a talented singer/songwriter and eclectic performer died suddenly on 23 July 2011 at the very young age of 27.

Amy’s wealth at the date of her death was estimated to be in excess of £4 Million. However, she died without leaving a Will. This could be due to any number of reasons such as her age or lack of estate planning advice. Under the intestacy rules given that Amy did not have any children and was divorced, her parents received her entire estate.

It is advisable that anyone over the age of 18 with assets held in their sole name should make a Will and continue to update their Will.

Should you need to make a Will or update your current Will due to a change in your circumstances, we at Oakwood Solicitors Ltd can assist you – call us today on 0113 2009720.
