Marketing Assistant – Full-Time

Key Purpose

To support the Marketing Manager implement the agreed marketing plans and activities. To aid the smooth running of the Marketing function by undertaking a variety of tasks and identifies by the Marketing Manager. To take responsibility for small Digital Marketing campaigns and support the Marketing Manager with the larger campaigns. Take shared responsibility for online marketing function to include: website maintenance and development, optimisation, social media, events and partnership management. To monitor results of campaigns, carry out competitor analysis, keyword research and SEO logs. Maximise awareness through editorial and advertising.

Key Roles

Principle Marketing Accountabilities

  • Assist the Marketing Manager with the delivery of the Marketing Campaigns for the company (including social media, landing pages, advertising, sales promotions, email marketing)
  • Assist with the marketing activity for the events and conference facilities
  • Support the Marketing Manager in developing, compiling and maintaining our mailing lists and databases- including email databases
  • Maintain Digital Asset Library – Original files, online files (Zest, ESP FTP)
  • Organise regular mailings, planning direct mail and email campaigns
  • Liaise with graphic and website designers
  • Be the main point of contact for external designers and printers
  • Help with presentations by assembling videos, slideshows and analyses of competitors
  • Monitor the success of marketing campaigns, recording number of private enquires that come through to the website
  • Monitor SEO rankings and competition rankings: including keyword research
  • Weekly trend analysis (looking out for key stories, law trends, marketing trends)
  • Assist with the programme of Market Research: carrying out surveys and collating results to look for patterns and trends
  • Ongoing competitor analysis
  • Assist with internal communications and internal events
  • Providing full administrative support to the Marketing Manager
  • Assist the Marketing Manager with the implementation of the PR strategy: Cultivate key press contacts, deal with press enquires, compile and send out press packs
  • Assist with the generation of news stories: drafting text & selecting publicity images and clearing copyrights
  • To attend regular meetings with the Marketing Manager to discuss the planning and implementation of marketing activities
  • Help the Marketing Manager to monitor current activities such as journal adverts, website adverts, relationship with service providers, and relationship with members and other partners
  • Organises and plans the production of all major marketing materials by working closely with printers, sponsors, and other involved parties
  • Assist with the preparation on status reports to monitor the marketing activity
  • To manage and create press releases and press mailings to specific editorials when required
  • To deputize for the Marketing manager as and when may be required

Online Marketing

  • To update all three websites using the content management system
  • Create online campaigns throughout social communities (Facebook, Twitter, Display Remarketing, Instagram and others
  • Monitor SEO rankings and competition rankings: including keyword research
  • Current reporting analysis
  • Support with the new website development plans and SEO activities

Event Management

  • Help organise events, exhibitions and seminars, making bookings and overseeing the guest list
  • Carrying out research to identify individuals and companies who can be targeted to attend our events
  • Creating business events and workshops on EventBrite and managing mailing lists
  • Working with local media to promote the event
  • Assist in setting up events

Key Knowledge


A Marketing Management degree or equivalent in a relevant field

A professional marketing or PR qualification
An understanding of the law industry
Experience of fast-moving project work


1 year’s full-time experience (paid or voluntary) in a marketing role
Experience of administrative work

Key Competencies


Knowledge of MS Office, marketing computer software and online applications (CRM tools, Online analytics, Google Adwords etc)
Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
Good working knowledge of a CMS, Social Media, Website Analytics
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in person, and on paper, with internal and external contacts at all levels
Strong motivation for achieving and exceeding targets
Ability to identify media stories and sells them in person or via press literature
Flexible attitude to work
A creative approach to marketing
High level of administrative ability
Excellent organisation skills
