Work Experience Student Interview of the Employers’ and Public Liability Department

As a student from Mount St Mary’s on a two-week work experience at Oakwood Solicitors, one of my jobs was to interview two brilliant workers here to find out about what led and inspired them to work in a law firm.

Oakwood Solicitors is an award-winning Law Firm in Leeds, England which provides service departments such as:

• Employment
• Stress At Work
• Financial Litigation
• Wills and Powers of Attorney

Including many other services.

During this interview I had gathered information from Alex Singleton and Beverley Barker from the Employers’ and Public Liability department, about how and why Oakwood is seen as “the Award-Winning Law Firm” and how it can benefit other people around the community. Oakwood Solicitors is described as “welcoming” and “everyone that works here is treated like family”.

As I interviewed them, I decided to dig deeper and increase my understanding in the company. Some questions that I had asked them during the interview were:

• What inspired you to want to work in a law firm?

“The main reasons that I had applied to Oakwood Solicitors was because it was a case of adding my own skills and knowledge to the skills that I learnt along the course if my law journey, then working my way up.”

• What made you want to work at Oakwood Solicitors?

“I first thought about working here when I first came and tried out an apprentice ship/ work experience in places like Oakwood.

“I also had some form of experience of law at university where I took part in activities and lectures that made me ant to study and go forward with my law career.”

• How did you find out about Oakwood Solicitors?

“At the time that I was ready and looking for work, Oakwood was offering recruitment and because of this, I had googled them and seen that they were an award-winning law firm with all of these amazing services that had been provided.”

• What department of law would you recommend for a beginner in the law industry to take part in?

“It often depends on the kind of person you are and what you specialise in, but the ones that would be the best ones to try could be digital marketing, employment and family, personal injury and wills and civilisation.”

What have I personally experienced?

During my time at Oakwood solicitors so far, I have realised that community is a tremendously huge part of their daily lives as they all look out for each other and are kind and welcoming to anyone that Is new or trying out here.

They assess your case no matter what difficulties it brings and all of the services they make are to cater you instead of making you feel.
