Yorkshire based Trade Union, Equality for Workers Union (‘EFWU’), have announced a new strategic partnership with Leeds based Law Firm, Oakwood Solicitors for the provision of legal services to members of EFWU.

EFWU currently has members located predominantly in the Yorkshire area and Oakwood Solicitors have over 95 staff based at three sites in North Leeds. Oakwood Solicitors are market leaders in claims relating to the occurrence of mental ill health caused during an individual’s employment, commonly referred to as Stress at Work claims, as well as specialising in Employment Law and other areas of private client practice.

General Secretary and Co-Founder of EFWU, Mizan Muqit said “As General secretary and co-founder of Equality for workers union (EFWU) it’s my pleasure to add Oakwood Solicitors to our legal panel.

“Both organisations are Yorkshire and Leeds based and stress at work is a huge problem that employers are failing to take decisive and swift steps to address for workers. Oakwood Solicitors are the market leader for stress at work claims.”

Richard Coulthard, Director at Oakwood Solicitors said ‘We are delighted to announce this partnership. EFWU demonstrate the same dedication to achieving the very best outcomes for clients that we do and this common desire and work ethic will see our relationship go from strength to strength to the greater benefit of EFWU members.’

Richard Coulthard further added ‘At Oakwood Solicitors we have very much driven the way forward when it comes to Stress at Work Claims and this diversity of knowledge and experience, coupled with our Employment Law experience will enable EFWU members access a far more diverse range of legal offering than what is offered to members of some other trade unions.’

Oakwood Solicitors and EFWU are currently looking at members situations and historic matters to identify prospective members who would benefit from further assistance in respect of any mental health illness suffered during members employment.
