Press Release: “Game of Thrones” – Legal Sins
Oakwood Solicitors, a leading provider of personal and business legal services, has decided to celebrate the brilliant finale of Season five of Game of Thrones and the anticipated sixth series to take a tongue-in-cheek look at the legal implications for the citizens of Westeros and Essos.
Oakwoods Head of Employment, Ian Abel commented, “The mythical surroundings of the series would be a litigation nightmare if we approached it from a modern legal scenario and in particular when compared to current UK Legislation. So we thought it would be fun to take a look at the series in this light.”
Some of the key legal issues we wanted to highlight are:
Employment Claims – various issues with the breach of working time regulations, breach of the national minimum wage, and breach of health and safety regulations, also many characters would have a claim potential claims for discrimination on the basis of various protected characteristics.
Stress at Work – ignoring the fact that the GoT world exists in turbulent times, and with this would come a great amount of stress, but specifically if Theon Greyjoy could be classed as an employee then he could claim following the unbearable amount of bullying and harassment.
Animal Bite Claims – forget your vicious dog bites that account for 200,000 dog attacks each year in the UK, imagine the attacks by the Stark’s wolves and Daenerys’ Dragons.
