Barclays Head of Compliance Sir Hector Sants Leaves the Bank Because of Stress at Work
Sir Hector Sants head of compliance and former boss of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) has resigned from the bank.
Mr Sants took sick leave at the beginning of October after suffering from stress and exhaustion.
He was set to come back to work in the New Year but has now chosen to resign from his position.
Sir Hector began working at Barclays in January this year. Previous to this he worked as the head of the Financial Services Authority from July 2007 to July last year.
He was deputy governor designate of the Bank of England and chief executive designate of the Prudential Regulation Authority from 2010 to 2012.
In a statement Barclays said:”Hector Sants has been on sick leave since the beginning of October suffering from stress and exhaustion. He has concluded that he will not be able to return to work in the near term. Consequently he has decided to resign from Barclays and not return from sick leave.”
