Work Experience at Oakwood Solicitors

Work experience at Oakwood Solicitors is a great way to gain an insight into what working at a law firm is really like. Whether you are a high school student, studying at university or recently graduated we can give you the opportunity to learn from our expert teams and get a foot in the door.

A number of our departments offer work experience placements and will show you every step of the way to develop a legal case, as well as supporting you to get involved and take on tasks yourself.

We are currently offering one-week work placements within our Clinical Negligence and Industrial Disease departments.

During your time at Oakwood Solicitors, you will become a valued member of the team, and be able to take advantage of our much-loved monthly treat days and events.

We have had many work experience success stories which have led to current employment.

Oliver had also never had any previous experience of working in a Law firm. But after a placement in the Medical Negligence team, he then went on to accept a permanent role in our Vetting and New Enquiries team.

“I was initially unsure what to expect from my work experience; having had no experience working for a law firm. Working for the Medical Negligence team exposed me to all stages of a claim including, letters of first notification; quantum reports; and reviewing statements from medical experts.

“The team I worked with is brilliant. They are welcoming, helpful, and have a good sense of humour. Their involvement helped contextualise my university studies through a wide variety of tasks.

“Following my work experience, I accepted an offer to work in the Vetting department at Oakwood. I’m incredibly pleased to have been offered this opportunity at the start of my career in law.”
