PIP Action Campaign are ‘Delighted’ Now That Victims Are On the Road to Justice After German Firm are Ordered to Pay Damages
A French court has ordered a German company to compensate hundreds of women who were fitted with faulty breast implants.
The German company TUV Rheinland gave EU safety certificates to the French implant Manufacturer which the court said “neglected its duties of vigiliance”.
PIP was shut down in March 2010 following a world wide health scare.
The company used industrial grade silicone gel which resulted in many of the implants rupturing.
TUV Rheinland have been sued for 50m Euros (£42m) by six implant distributors and 1700 women with the argument that a cursory inspection would have identified the problems.
The claimants in the civil case will receive initial payments of 3000 Euros per victim to pay for surgery to get the implants removed.
