Tailgaters and Lane-hogging Drivers to be Penalised with Fines and Points

Nuisance drivers who hog lanes and tailgate could receive on the spot fines to giving police more power to deal with less serious driving offences to try and avoid the the court process.

If a driver is caught tailgating or lane-hogging by the police they could face three points on their license and a £100 fine.

More serious examples will still go through the court where people may be given higher penalties.
Instead of endorsement police will be able to offer educational training and drivers can still appeal against any decision in court.

Fines are getting higher including using a mobile phone whilst driving. Other fines changing will include:

If drivers don’t have their licence endorsed this will rise from £30 to £50.
If the tax car disc can’t be easily seen
If someone fails to give way at a junction.
Speeding offences from £60 to £100
Driving without insurance will be rising from £200 to £300.
