However, the success of such a letter from our solicitors can depend upon various factors including the credit standing of the debtor. Unfortunately, partly due to the recent recession the debtor may not have the ability to pay. If the Letter of Action is unsuccessful in securing payment, it is strongly recommended to carry out investigations into the debtor’s ability to pay and assets before proceeding to court action to ensure the debt is worth pursuing.

The experts at Oakwood Solicitors were recently contacted by a client looking to pursue an outstanding debt of £998.64 from Mr M in Derby.

Are you seeking a solicitor who specialises in debt recovery to assist your organisation in Manchester in the pursuit of outstanding funds? Then don’t hesitate to consult with our experts at Oakwood Solicitors today to discover how our dedicated debt recovery team could work on your behalf to obtain payment in full from business or personal debtors as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

BBC News published an article on May 26 2009 written by Business Reporter Anthony Reuben, discussing the impact the recession was having an consumers.

The article reports that “The recession is continuing to have a big impact on the way people shop and travel in the UK”. It says:

April was another strong month for baked beans which are classic recession food. They are cheap tasty and they do not go off in the cupboard. In April the value of sales of baked beans rose 21.6% compared with the same month of 2008, which was its sixth consecutive month of growth around 20% according to figures prepared the BBC market researchers Nielsen.”

The article says that “Olive oil sales were barely changed last month with a 0.2% fall. They have been relatively resilient in the past six months having showing a gain of 6% in March. The robust sales of olive oil have been attributed to more people cooking at home and still be prepared to pay for quality ingredients. As expected supermarket budget lines continued their strong performance showing a 22.9% rise in own brand sales.”
