In the second of our series of interviews with members of staff here at Oakwood Solicitors, today we talk to one of the masterminds behind our recent rebranding: our in-house Graphic Designer, Terry Henderson. He has the honour of being the first interviewee since we revealed our new look!
It’s almost a month since we changed branding already! What do you make of our new identity as Oakwood Solicitors?
“Obviously I’m biased about this, but I think it’s a great reinvention of the firm with some stylish, sophisticated branding. I believe the new look will attract new clients and hopefully all this change will inspire the staff.”
What has been your biggest challenge regarding the switchover to the new name and branding?
“Making an inventory of everything there was to change seemed a bit daunting, then juggling external suppliers and the tight timescale was tricky. The more people involved, the more things that can go wrong! The most daunting challenge was probably the building signage – definitely one to get right first time!”
As a recent addition to the team, what’s your favourite thing about our workplace?
“The friendly atmosphere. Staff are generally enthusiastic towards marketing and design, and a lot of people enjoy mucking in and coming up with ideas and strategies.”
Can you tell us about anything exciting that’s currently in the pipeline?
“There’s a new project on the horizon that is a break from the current structure of most departments. It will require its own sub-brand – something a bit different to the norm. Also, I’ve been working with Emma Bell to create a fun interactive graphic that will soon land our website. Watch this space!”
Tell us something about your daily routine that most people wouldn’t know.
“I really enjoy illustration, so getting the chance to design something from scratch and create some scamps (preparatory sketches) is great fun for me. It’s like having a career playing Pictionary!”
What do you make of Oakwood as a community, but also as a place to work?
“It’s a lovely place to be based. Roundhay Park and Gipton Wood are lovely places to spend a lunch break. Certainly better than cramming onto a tiny patch of green in the city centre!”
