The year is moving past, but sometimes it is worth reflecting back a little. March was National Brain Injury Awareness Month. Let’s face it, none of us can function properly without a working brain!
Here at Oakwood Solicitors, we believe in working within the community to strengthen our links and attempt to make people’s lives better. We also like to work with charities to raise awareness and much-needed funds.
In the Employers’ and Personal Litigation (EL/PL) Department, we are experts in bringing serious injury cases to a successful conclusion and attempting to make victims’ lives better when they have been transformed by serious injuries – including those to the brain.
When serious accidents happen, however – the actions of people close by can transform the outcome for the injured person. National Brain Injury Awareness Month attempts to make people aware of the signs and symptoms to look out for, to get the right help fast.
For example, one of the keys to recognising a concussion and getting treatment early is to use this handy acronym, to identify these symptoms:
H – headaches or vomiting
E – ears ringing
A – amnesia, altered consciousness or loss of consciousness
D – double vision and/or dizziness
S – something is wrong, or not quite right
If in doubt, always get urgent help and do not hesitate to call 999 if you believe a serious injury has occurred. Quick action can make a big difference.
If you, or any member of your family, has been affected by injury of any kind, please do not hesitate to contact Beverley Barker on 0113 200 9758. Friendly, approachable and experienced – I will do all I can to help.
