A man who had fallen onto a roof at a construction site on Eskdale Terrace in Jesmond, has suffered multiple injuries that were classed as non-life threatening.
The Air ambulance crew were responders to the scene and treated his injuries before he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 governs work that is carried out at height and provides legislation to provide and implement the minimum safety and health requirements for the use of equipment for working at heights.
Falling from a height is one of the most common workplace injuries. It comes with many dangers and employers are obliged to protect employees from the more obvious dangers, but also against other factors, such as adjoining walls, machinery and other operatives. Weather conditions (when working outside) and sufficient height and width to manoeuvre are also considerations.
