Oakwood Solicitors is proud to announce our support for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

We understand that a cancer diagnosis can be a challenging time, not just for the individual but for their entire family. The emotional, physical, and financial burdens can be overwhelming.

This is why we are committed to doing our part to help. By participating in Macmillan’s annual fundraising event, we aim to contribute to the vital work the charity does in providing practical, medical, and financial support to people living with cancer.

We believe in standing with those who are affected by this disease, and we are dedicated to offering our support where we can.

    What is Macmillan’s Coffee Morning?

Macmillan’s Coffee Morning is the charity’s largest fundraising event. It brings people together over coffee and cake to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event started in 1990 and has since raised over £310 million to help fund cancer nurses, support helplines, and provide financial guidance for people living with cancer.

    How to Get Involved?

    1. Host: Anyone can host a coffee morning. Simply sign up on the Macmillan website to receive a free fundraising kit. You can host your event at home, school, work, or anywhere you like. The official date is the last Friday in September, but you can choose a date that works for you.
    2. Attend: If you prefer not to host, you can simply attend a coffee morning near you.

The purpose is to gather with friends, family, or colleagues, and encourage donations in exchange for hot drinks and treats. All donations go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support to help people affected by cancer.

    How to Share your support?

Use #WorldsBiggestCoffeeMorning or #MacmillanCoffeeMorning to show off your spread and inspire others.

You can pay or submit your Coffee Morning donations by:

    • Donating Online

    Frequently asked questions:

How do I make a claim?

If you feel that a medical professional has misdiagnosed your cancer, you could be entitled to compensation. The team at Oakwood Solicitors will be able to give you free advice on the prospects of your case and whether you would be eligible to make a claim.

You have three years from the misdiagnosis to pursue a case, so do not delay.

How long will my case take to run?

Given the complexities involved in pursuing Clinical Negligence claims, they can often take 18-24 months to conclude and longer if Court proceedings have to be issued.

Our investigations start by obtaining all relevant records and protocols before approaching independent medical experts for their opinion. We will provide you with regular updates on the progress of your case to ensure that you are kept up to speed.

Claims For Loved Ones Passed Away

If your loved ones passed away from cancer and it could have been avoided if the correct standard of care and treatment had been provided. We will be there to guide you through the claims process with the utmost sensitivity and respect.

How much is my claim worth?

It is often difficult to value clinical negligence claims at their outset, given the complexities involved; however, we will pursue two forms of compensation for you:

    • General damages – This is an award of money for the pain and suffering you have endured as a result of the negligence.
    • Special damages – This is an award of money for all of your out-of-pocket expenses, such as travel expenses, medication costs, loss of earnings, and treatment costs, both past and future. This list is not exhaustive and is very case-specific.
