Catherine Lackey Joins Our New Enquiries Team – Oakwood Solicitors Staff Profile

We are excited to announce the appointment of our new Head of New Enquiries, Catherine Lackey, bringing with her a wealth of experience to Oakwood Solicitors.

Alongside a recent office expansion, a great deal has been going on behind the scenes here. As one of our newest members of staff and our newest Head of Department, we sat down with Catherine to ask her a few questions about her professional background and new position within the team. Read on to learn more about her.

Can you briefly describe your role?

I lead and organise the New Enquiries team, managing a team of seven enquiry handlers to ensure all new enquiries are allocated and contacted promptly.

I oversee the team’s workload, coordinate schedules, and provide the support and resources they need to perform at their best. My role is focused on maintaining an efficient, high-performing team while ensuring every client receives a positive first experience with the firm.

What are your main responsibilities?

My main responsibilities include allocating daily workloads, supporting team members with any questions or challenges throughout the day, and ensuring enquiries are handled efficiently. I also train new starters, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

A key part of my role is developing team members with the aim of helping them progress into Legal Assistant or Paralegal positions within the business.

How did your career progress to this point?

I have worked in customer service for the past eight years, gaining extensive experience in handling complex client enquiries and complaints while working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Throughout my career, I have developed strong communication, problem-solving, and people management skills, which have provided a solid foundation for leading and supporting a successful team.

What attracted you to working at Oakwood Solicitors?

The welcoming and supportive culture really stood out to me. Although I had never worked in the legal sector before, I saw it as an exciting opportunity to challenge myself, learn something new, and further develop my people management skills within a growing business.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

The most rewarding part of my role is watching my team grow and succeed. I particularly am excited to support my team at the beginning of their careers, such as recent law graduates entering their first office-based role.

Helping them build confidence, develop their skills, and progress into the next stage of their legal career is something I find incredibly fulfilling.

What are you hoping to achieve?

I want to continue developing and strengthening the New Enquiries team by improving processes and creating effective training materials for new starters.

My goal is to help build a consistent, supportive onboarding experience that enables employees to succeed from day one while contributing to the continued growth and success of the business.
