    Testimonials

Kaye helped and supported me every step of the way and I am incredibly grateful. Kaye is very kind and caring. She not only made me feel believed but actually shielded me from contact by my very aggressive ex-employer on several occasions, which really helped my recovery.

    Client

My case wasn't easy and I was worried about going to a full trial as I know the stress involved. However, despite the difficulties, Adeela managed to get me an out-of-court settlement that I am very pleased with considering the circumstances.

Were You Discharged From the Armed Forces Because of Your Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity?

If you were discharged, forced to resign, or experienced personal harm in the Armed Forces between 27 July 1967 and 12 January 2000 due to your actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity, you may be eligible for a substantial, tax-free payment through the UK Government’s LGBT Veterans Financial Recognition Scheme.

At Oakwood Solicitors, we’re here to help you understand your rights, submit your claim, and ensure you receive the maximum financial recognition available.

    About the LGBT Veterans Scheme

Launched in December 2024, this historic scheme is designed to acknowledge the injustice and suffering caused by the now-repealed ban on LGBT personnel serving in HM Armed Forces.

There are two tax-free payments available:

Dismissed or Discharged Payment – £50,000

If you were dismissed, discharged, or asked to resign because of your sexual orientation or gender identity, you may be entitled to a fixed payment of £50,000.

    Impact Payment – £1,000 to £20,000

If you served during the Ban and experienced emotional, psychological or physical harm even if you remained in service, you could receive a means-tested payment based on the severity of your suffering.

Both payments are exempt from tax and will not affect benefits or other compensation claims.
