Baroness Newlove’s review of the Criminal Injury Compensation Authority’s (CICA) processes has revealed that many victims feel they are forced to run around in circles, reliving their traumas repeatedly as they escalate their claims.

Also, fewer than two-in-five victims recall officially hearing about the service to begin with. Full story here.

We discussed figures relating to failed claims in a recent article entitled ‘CICA Claims – Why you need a Solicitor’

The figures we extracted from Government statistics showed that 60% of potential claimants decided to represent themselves throughout the process. Of that overall number, an astonishing 62% of these people had their cases rejected.

Due to these statistics, we highly recommend seeking legal assistance when making a valid claim to the Criminal Injury Compensation Authority.
