Employees are going to find it tougher to claim for injuries in the work place

Today, the House of Commons are looking to make reforms to Employer’s Liability and which may make it harder for workers to claim.

Michael Long the head of our Employers Liability department believes if the reforms are approved.

“It will be a further blow to justice.”

Following on from the changes announced in the Jackson reforms at the beginning of month this is another part of the Prime Minister David Cameron’s campaign against what he calls Britain’s “compensation culture”.

    Mr Long said.

“The current legislation is effective and works well and by changing this the government is essentially allowing employers the opportunity to flout the regulations which govern peoples’ workplaces.”

Michael believes the change will have a negative impact.

“This will inevitably lead to more unsafe workplaces and more accidents however it will be more difficult for those injured employees to gain the compensation for the pain and suffering they have endured at the hands of their employers”.

David Cameron is trying to tackle the “compensation culture” believing that claims are causing rising costs for individuals and insurance companies
