We were honoured to be invited to Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Awards Ceremony – West Yorkshire as guests of The Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (RFCA) which were held on 8 October 2019.
The RFCA in Yorkshire & The Humber is an independent, community-based organisation with the responsibility of advising and assisting the Defence Council on issues concerning the 3,000 reservists and more than 8,500 cadets in the region.

The ceremony was held at the Thornbury Barracks in Pudsey, the headquarters of the 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment – 4 PARA, and we thank them for their hospitality.
These prestigious awards are in recognition of exceptional service to individuals serving in the Reserve or Cadet forces. Receivers of the awards were presented with a Certificate by the Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Ed Anderson. It was clear to see the pride on the faces of those receiving the awards, as well as their friends and family in the audience.
Music for the ceremony was provided by The Band of the Yorkshire Regiment and drinks and canapes were provided after the ceremony whilst photographs were taken and the guests mingled.
Following attendance at a previous educational event held by the RFCA, Oakwood Solicitors hold a Bronze Award for the Armed Forces Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge that we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.
As Bronze Award holders we pledge to support the armed forces, including existing or prospective employees who are members of the community and promote being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners. Signing up could not be simpler, and more information can be found here.
The RFCA is always looking for new adult volunteers. For more information visit their website, here.
