Judge Names 15 Year Old Driver Who Killed Pedestrian
A 15-year-old boy who knocked over and killed a pedestrian whilst driving a stolen vehicle has been served with 5 years detention.
The judge in the case allowed the media to print Charlie Tyers’ name after lifting a ban on the media reporting his name. He lifted it deciding that it was in the public’s interest to know all the details of the accident.
Charlie hit and killed Douglas Scott Robinson 27 and dragged him over 100 yards after losing control in the snow and hitting a lamp post. The hit was so hard that the top of the light was thrown into a tree 50ft away a Teeside Court heard.
The vehicle was taken from a party earlier that day in Stockton. After seeing a police car the defendant sped off and hit Mr Robinson.
He has been a given a 5 year detention and cannot apply for a driving license for five years.
