The fact that we have been shortlisted into the final five for the third year running is really a testament to the recognition amongst our peers of what we bring to the legal market.
“This has been achieved during a period in which we have had a management buy-out and we have completely rebranded. We have successfully diversified the services we provide, and the growth we have seen in recent years following the buy-out has been significant.
I am proud that we are now competing with law firms far bigger than us and these are law firms who may not have even heard of us, let alone seen as competitors 4-5 years ago.
“This is particularly true in respect of commercial services offering to local SMEs. We have consistently been described by clients as far more pro-active than other law firms, and our innovative fee structures and offerings really stand us apart.
This seems to have been picked up by the judging panel, who appear to appreciate that the manner in which we approach legal services and our obligations to the local community and charity is a little bit different from other firms – particularly when taking into account the size of the firm.
Our practical, aims-focused, no-nonsense, no-jargon approach to legal services results in significant recommendation and referrals from existing clients and contacts, and this is one of the key drivers behind our expansion.
“For me personally, I am really pleased with the commitment and support of our staff members because we wouldn’t be where we are without them – and despite our growth, there is a real family feel amongst staff members with close bonds and a strong team mentality.
“I am also immensely proud of the fact that our Property law firm, Oakwood Property Solicitors, has also been shortlisted for the Residential Property Solicitors. This is particularly significant given that we only started trading as Oakwood Property Solicitors a year ago.”
