The Trust’s aim is to cut down on the spread of MRSA, norovirus and other bacterias resistant to regular cleaning methods. Norovirus, in particular, has been a big concern in the area, with an increase in cases putting a strain on its services.

Hydrogen Peroxide Vapours can be harmful to those exposed, so this form of cleaning requires proper training and safety procedures, and the rooms being cleaned are sealed and empty, isolated from nearby activity.
The Facilities Manager of ULHT, Ian Hayden, stated:
“We are really pleased to have these machines to make sure our hospitals are as clean as they can be. They are not used instead of the traditional methods, but as an extra resource we can use to clean a room used by a patient with a highly infectious illness.”
Kevin Shaw, the trust’s head of infection prevention control, said: “These machines are a great asset, but nothing can replace the traditional simple steps of hand hygiene or visitors and staff staying away from the hospital for 72 hours if you have had sickness or diarrhoea.”
It is required by law that your employer is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of employees. Adequate health and safety procedures must be put into place when operating machinery and using hazardous substances, and the necessary safety equipment and training be provided to safely carry out duties.
If you have been harmed at work or your health has been affected by specialist equipment or an unsafe environment due to lack of training, safety equipment or health and safety procedure, your employer could be liable.

We have a dedicated team of solicitors and paralegals who have many years’ experience between them in running cases of this nature. They are highly trained to deal with all aspects of Industrial Disease.
We want to ensure that clients are not overwhelmed by legal jargon, medical terms they don’t understand, and to allow the claims procedure to be as transparent as possible.
