The procedure that was designed to help women suffering from urinary incontinence has caused thousands of women more harm than good and has had devastating effects upon their lives.
In 2014 the use of Mesh Implants was suspended in Scotland due to the high risk of complications and Oakwood Solicitors supports the campaign that the mesh implant should be banned in England.

“Patient safety is paramount and should be at the forefront of every surgeons and NHS Trusts mind. It is utterly disturbing that the complications associated with the mesh implant have been known to the medical profession for so long, yet this information has not been relayed to patients to allow them to make an informed decision about whether they wish to undergo the surgery and perhaps more worryingly the mesh implant is still authorised for continued use today”
Johnson & Johnson, the manufacturers of the mesh implant together with their sister company in the UK, Ethicon and the NHS are facing litigation from potentially over 100,000 women who have been affected.
Clients have reported debilitating and life changing affects following the mesh procedure, often resulting in breakdowns in relationships. Loss of employment and psychological and physical injuries.
“When I woke from my TVT Operation I noticed pain in my right Groin…The day after I had excruciating pain in my groin, lower back, my buttocks and hip radiating down my leg into my big toe….5 Weeks on I am an emotional wreck, still in pain, still taking prescribed pain relief”
“On Recommendation, I contacted Oakwood Solicitors and Spoke to Rachel, she was so professional, understanding, kind and very reassuring to my current situation. I then had a home visit from Rachel and Carol which reassured me further.
I feel I am no longer alone and being listened to and the pressure has been lifted. I would highly recommend their services for medical negligence”
A public enquiry at this stage is too little too late for the women already affected but we are hopeful that this will prevent further harm being caused.
We urge all women who have been affected following a mesh insertion to come forward and seek help as soon as possible. Our all-female, compassionate and dedicated team are on hand to offer free confidential advice to anyone who has been affected.
