Oliver Swinnock is a New Enquiries Call Handler in our Administration and New Enquiries team, but he started his time with us in a slightly different way to most of our staff. Oliver was hired after a successful work experience placement.
We asked him if he would share his thoughts about his time with us prior to being a full member of the team, and he happily took the time to do so. Read on to hear his thoughts in this work experience testimony:
Oliver said:
“I’ve had an interest in law since studying ‘Philosophy of law’ at undergrad. Since then, I’ve completed my GDL Masters – I graduate this summer. It was after a law fair that I arranged work experience with Oakwood, working with the Clinical Negligence team.
“I was initially unsure what to expect from my work experience; having had no experience working for a law firm. Working for the Clinical Negligence team exposed me to all stages of a claim including, letters of first notification; quantum reports; and reviewing statements from medical experts.
“The team I worked with is brilliant. They are welcoming, helpful, and have a good sense of humour. Their involvement helped contextualise my university studies through a wide variety of tasks.
“Following my work experience, I accepted an offer to work in the vetting department at Oakwood. I’m incredibly pleased to have been offered this opportunity at the start of my career in law.”
