In the latest legal showdown of 2019, a jury in California ordered Bayer, the manufacturer of Roundup, to pay one couple $2 billion in damages after it found that the company failed to inform consumers of risks associated with its product.

Employers in the UK are well aware of the risks of weedkillers. Trafford Borough Council, for example, has voted to get rid of glysophate treatments within a year.
Not all employers, however, are going to take such a proactive approach. And despite the risks, workers are likely to be exposed to the herbicide without adequate protection.
Under health and safety regulation, employers must ensure that the exposure of his employees to substances hazardous to health is either prevented or, where this is not reasonably practicable, adequately controlled to lessen risk to health.
Control measures might include the provision of personal protective equipment, such as respirators or gloves. Whether these measures are adequate is a question of fact.
Only time will tell whether employees are adequately protected from exposure to glysophate-based weedkillers. Many workers exposed too glysophate will have used the product for years before receiving a diagnosis.
If you’ve been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and have been exposed to excessive levels of glysophate-based weedkillers such as Roundup, you might be able to claim compensation.
