Oakwood Solicitors has secured a £7000 settlement for a client who suffered an ectopic pregnancy after the hospital mistook it as a UTI.
The incident occurred when our client attended the hospital, suffering from abdominal pain and nausea – where she was advised she had a UTI.
During her hospital admission, no pregnancy test was taken. However, on the same day, the client contacted her GP, and it was confirmed, after a pregnancy test, that she was pregnant, and did not have a UTI.
The client returned to the hospital the next day, where an ultrasound scan was carried out. It was then discovered that the client was having an ectopic pregnancy in which she required a salpingectomy as the left fallopian tube had ruptured. The Claimant underwent the procedure and lost her left fallopian tube.
The Claimant suffered 24 hours of pain and suffering and required a salpingectomy. Oakwood Solicitors recovered £7000 for the Claimant’s pain and suffering due to the negligence.
