21 year old Mr J from Spalding in Lincolnshire injured his left knee when he tripped over some string whilst picking fruit.

Oakwood assessed the circumstances of his accident and quickly determined third party liability so they were able to start processing his compensation claim immediately.

Depending on the circumstances of an accident sometimes liability is not so easy to establish. There are many questions that need answering and evidence to be examined. Oakwood are highly qualified in all areas of personal injury law and can guide their clients easily through this process.

The normal movements of the knee are exaggerated during a fall which frequently causes tears and fractures to add to the usual bruises swelling and abrasions. Anyone seeking professional medical treatment will be asked to provide a detailed description of the fall to help with the diagnosis and the decision on how to treat the injury.

Mr J’s work accident was found to be the fault of a third party so he could pursue a compensation claim with the professional service offered by Oakwood’s personal injury experts in Leeds.

Knee injuries frequently require on-going medical treatment and assessment which will require time off work. Depending on serious the injury is there would usually be a significant impact on daily activities possibly including time off work.

The victim may not be able to drive continue with daily household chores or continue a chosen hobby. If there is any restriction on a victim’s daily activities as a result of the accident they are taken into account when negotiating compensation.

In serious cases it is possible that the victim will not fully recover from their injuries. This will also be taken into account and will have a significant impact on the settlement figure.

Sometimes victims are tempted to return to work too early for financial reasons which can prolong the recovery period. A financial settlement from a personal injury claim can relieve the financial pressures and allow the victim the time to rest and fully recover from their injuries.
