Fake Google clinic reviews – BBC report

There has been a warning over medical clinics using fake Google Reviews, according to a recent BBC report.

This has been highlighted as a ‘significant and persistent problem’ and has appeared in a number of companies reviewed. The BBC has reported that it investigated an Ipswich clinic and noted that there was a 4.9-star rating on Google reviews.

However, during the course of the investigation, it noted that authors of some of the 5-star ratings had also reviewed many of the same businesses in other countries.

These reviews are particularly worrisome as it could mean that people are choosing to get medical care from clinics that many others have reported issues on.

However, these negative reviews are being camouflaged by possible fake reviews. Some people could be choosing the clinic to receive treatment on the basis of a fake review and this could have dire consequences.

Caution should be exercised when considering a medical clinic for treatment on the basis of internet reviews.
