    The Opportunity

    We’re looking for a Junior Costs Draftsman to join our expanding Costs Department.
    This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking legal team, working across multiple practice areas including:

    • Personal Injury (RTA, EL/PL, Industrial Disease, Psychiatric Injury)
    • Clinical Negligence
    • Other civil litigation matters

    The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced Costs team to draft accurate and compliant Bills of Costs and related documentation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Drafting Bills of Costs for detailed assessment
    • Preparing Schedules of Costs, Estimates of Costs, and Statements of Costs for Summary Assessment
    • Producing Precedent H and Precedent R documents
    • Managing both paper files and a paperless case management system
    • Liaising with fee earners and clients where required
    • Maintaining accuracy and compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)

    About You

    You will ideally have at least 1 year of experience in a costs role and be confident handling your own caseload with minimal supervision. You’ll have a solid understanding of the CPR particularly costs rules, Part 7 and Part 8 litigation and be eager to further develop your expertise.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum 1 year’s experience in costs drafting
    • Strong knowledge of CPR and costs procedures
    • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
    • Good communication and organisational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and CostMaster
    • Experience with Proclaim Case Management System (advantageous but not essential)
    • A positive attitude and commitment to professional growth
