Following on from our recent article on heat, which you can read here, the government appears to be considering allowing those who work for the NHS to claim IIDB when suffering from the after effects of COVID.
The Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit has a prescribed list of industrial and other conditions which will make you eligible to receive a weekly sum under the scheme. One which appears to be being considered to be added is either long term COVID effects or long COVID suffering individuals.

Under the scheme people are often assessed by a medical or suitable qualified person and determined as having a percentage disability. This percentage disability determines the amount you receive per week and it appears those with disabling conditions following covid-19 and having worked with the NHS may become eligible in the future.
It will be interesting to see whether this will simply apply to NHS workers and how the scheme will incorporate that, or whether it becomes eligible to all who suffer with dilapidating conditions following COVID-19.
Here at Oakwood Solicitors, we often advise, whether we are able to assist or not, those with prescribed industrial diseases, to consider making a claim under the Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit Scheme. This is because it is a no fault scheme and is open to everyone who has one of the many conditions listed.
If you are suffering with any of the conditions listed or simply want to enquire about injuries of listed under this scheme please feel free to contact us on 0113 200 9720.
