Have you sustained a personal injury because of a dog bite?

Was the dog bite by an unmuzzled dog which is regulated under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991? Were you attacked by a dog whose owner was aware that the dog had a tendency to be aggressive?

If you were attacked by an unmuzzled dog which should have been regulated under the Dangerous Dogs Act, or if you were attacked by a dog whose owner was aware the dog had a tendency to be aggressive, you could be entitled to claim a significant level of compensation for your injuries.

Oakwood Solicitors is extremely confident we can settle any cases relating to dangerous dogs, providing the incident has occurred within three years.

Would you like to make a claim for dog bite compensation on a no-win, no-fee basis? You can do so with expert legal representation from the experts at Oakwood Solicitors.

Everywhere we look in the media there are horror stories describing serious attacks on humans carried out by dogs? Not all of these attacks are carried out by dogs deemed dangerous – any family pet could turn savage when placed in adverse situations.

Below is a story relating to one such attack in which a small boy was attacked by a Staffordshire Bull terrier:

A dog owner was ordered to pay £400 compensation to a 6-year-old boy who was attacked by a Staffordshire Bull terrier at a Cambridge pub. Stephen Phillips’ dog Bruno bit the boy as he was playing with his stepfather at The Burleigh Arms Pub Newmarket Road on August 11 last year.

The boy who cannot be named for legal reasons was being spun around by his stepfather in the pub’s garden and car park area before the dog jumped up and bit him on the stomach. After the boy’s stepfather managed to lift him out of harm’s way and kick the dog out of reach, Miss Wolfenden assisted in cleaning the wound while the family waited for police to arrive.

She said “His mother took him to the ladies toilet and I ran and got the first-aid box and put a cold compression on the wound and used antiseptic wipes.” The boy was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital and treated for dog bites to the abdomen and right knee, as well as cuts and bruises and was given a course of antibiotics according to a statement written by registered nurse Nicole Goddard. (Cambridge News 11th February 2013.)
