Consisting of two members, Civil Litigation deals in all manner of cases – from landlord, tenant and boundary disputes to civil discrimination and harassment.
A full list of Laura and Adam’s services can be found on our website, alongside a great deal of comprehensive, useful information on each area of their combined expertise.
Who’s in charge of the Civil Litigation department?
“It’s a joint effort between us both. We have different strengths and weaknesses that complement each other, so we tend to play to our strengths and deal with matters as and when they arise.”
Which member of the team has served here the longest?
“Tricky question! Laura would have been here for 8 years next February if she hadn’t left for a couple of years and then come back. Adam has been here for 7 years in March 2020 so it’s a close call – but Adam has been here throughout, so it’s only fair that he wins that one.”
Which types of cases do you most commonly deal with?
“We deal with so many different cases but we mostly deal with breach of contract matters, landlord and tenant issues, professional negligence claims, property and construction litigation, civil harassment claims, neighbour disputes, boundary disputes and all in between.
“It makes every day interesting and new, that’s for sure.”
If we walked in unannounced, what would we be most likely to see both of you doing?
“You would either find one of us on the telephone and the other one typing away, or you’d find us deep in discussion thrashing out legal arguments. We often play devil’s advocate with one another to assist in progressing cases and making adequate ongoing assessments of our cases on a daily basis.”
Who could out-talk everyone else about their area of expertise?
“That would likely be Adam! There comes a point in the day where Laura just doesn’t want to talk any more… haha.”
What’s the largest settlement you’ve ever made, and what type of case was it?
“Our largest high-value cases are ongoing but in the past, we have settled claims in excess of £100,000 in professional negligence claims and property litigation.”
Who is the most competitive member of the team?
“We are both competitive in different ways and also on different days. We never compete with each other, save as for who can get the most Trust Pilot reviews but as far as competition goes, we are usually in it together.”
A huge thanks to Laura and Adam for giving us time away from their busy schedules! We hope it’s helped you to familiarise yourself with the Civil Litigation Department, or to learn a little more about the services they offer.
Catch us in December for our final Spotlight of the year! If your department wishes to join in – provide a small bio about your services and team, and answer the above questions amongst yourselves before emailing them to Stuart Jones in the Marketing team.
