Our client received medical treatment in June 2016. After attending her GP with symptoms, she was admitted to hospital as these had progressed to be more severe.
It was noted by medical professionals that our client was at high risk of sustaining pressure sores. However, inspection for these was not performed daily. Soon after, our claimant had unfortunately experienced a progression in the growth of the ulcer, and it was raised as a serious incident.
She developed further ulcers and all developed to become more serious during her stay in Hospital. Our claimant, unfortunately, became acutely unwell and was placed on palliative care due to respiratory failure, sadly passing away due to sepsis contracted due to the ulcer which was not initially treated.
Outcome
We successfully obtained compensation in the sum of £20,000 in damages for our client’s family.
